About Ardery (Àrd-Àirigh) Woods
Ardery woods is a temperate oakwood, a remnant of the Ancient Atlantic Oakwoods that once stretched down the Atlantic coast of Europe from Norway, down the West Coast of Scotland and as far as Spain and Portugal. As well as the oakwoods and other native pines and broadleaf trees, these woodlands are home to a fabulous collection of lichens, mosses and liverworts.
